Cranksgiving in June
You've probably heard of Cranksgiving, races held each year near Thanksgiving to collect food to donate to local food banks. Ypsilanti Velo has been happy to help out with the local Cranksgiving the past three years, the last of which brought in an impressive 800 pounds of food for Food Gatherers.
Food Gatherers, the food bank for Washtenaw County, sees a lot of generosity around the holidays at the end of the year, but the need for donations is high year around, especially now. With that in mind, Ypsilanti Velo is holding a Cranksgiving in June, the same idea, just earlier in the year.
This year there are two classes of races:
- $20 Shopping ListYou will have up to two hours to spend up to $20, trying to get the most you can get off your shopping list. You must visit three different stores, and you only get one trip to drop off food. The prize goes to the person with the most food gathered in the shortest time — Should you go fast? Should you get more? The strategy is up to you!
- Unlimited PoundageTwo hours, unlimited trips, no spending limit, you just have to visit at least three different stores. Just how much can you haul in two hours?
First place in both classes gets a $25 cash prize!
